Wazalwar is a Mumbai-based visual artist, mixed media specialist, and internationally recognized hand embroidery designer with over 24 years of experience in the creative arts. Her artistic journey began in the world of textiles and fashion, where she cultivated a deep sensitivity to surface, detail, and material—skills that now form the foundation of her distinctive visual language. Her transition from fabric to canvas has been remarkably versatile, combining craftsmanship with spiritual storytelling.Having worked globally in the luxury fashion and embroidery industry, Danashrri now brings the same intricacy and intention to her fine art practice. Her work merges natural materials, cosmic symbolism, and Indian mythology, expressed through textured layers and earthy mediums like plant pulp, stones, threads, gold and copper leaf, and sacred pigments.Her celebrated Mriga series draws inspiration from the myth of Pashupatinath, where Lord Shiva assumes the form of a mystical deer. Through this divine narrative, Danashrri explores the deer not simply as an animal, but as a sacred guardian, a symbol of inner peace, cosmic connection, and spiritual power.One of the central works in this series, titled “Mrigapati Nath”, portrays Shiva not in his human form, but symbolically as a deer placed at the heart of a cosmic cycle.
