About The Artist
Govind Vishwas is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice explores memory, childhood experiences, cultural identity, and collective consciousness. Working across mixed media, rubber impressions, and installation-based processes, his work is rooted in lived experience and reflects a layered engagement with material, time, and personal history. His visual language bridges intimate memories with broader social and cultural narratives, creating works that resonate on both personal and collective levels. He completed his Master of Visual Arts (MVA) and Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) in Painting from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda. His academic journey shaped a strong foundation in contemporary and interdisciplinary practices, including installation and experimental media. Over the years, he has developed a distinctive approach that combines tactile processes with conceptual depth. Vishwas is a recipient of the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, New York (2012 and 2018), and the Rupankar State Award, Madhya Pradesh (2020). He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across India and has also curated significant group shows such as I Am The Magic Hand, Tarq, Kissliye, and Coherent Spaces, contributing actively to the contemporary art landscape.
