About The Artist
Jatin Das, an illustrious figure in the realms of painting, poetry, sculpture, mural creation, printmaking, and education, also stands as the founding chairman of the JD Centre of Art. His journey began in 1941 in Mayurbhanj, Odisha, India. At the age of 17, he pursued his studies at the Sir JJ School of Art in Bombay. Das has conducted over 71 solo national and international exhibitions, biennales, and artist camps, including those in Venice and Tokyo. His artistic repertoire spans oils, watercolors, ink, Conté, along with a significant body of work in sculptures, graphics, murals, installations, and printmaking including etchings, dry points, lithographs, and serigraphs.
In recognition of his contributions to art and culture, he was awarded the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 2012, one of India's highest civilian honors, by the President of India.
