About The Artist
Sawan Taank, born in 1996, is an accomplished artist with a Bachelor's degree in Painting from Visva-Bharati University's Kala-Bhavana in Santiniketan, West Bengal, achieved between 2014 and 2018. He furthered his studies with an MFA in Painting from the Government College of Arts in Chandigarh during 2020-2021. Sawan's artistic explorations delve deeply into the nuances of masculinity, examining themes of effeminacy, homosexual desires, and homosocial bonds. He has an impressive record of showcasing his work at both national and international levels. Noteworthy exhibitions featuring his art include Gallery Sree Arts in 2023, the Kolkata Centre for Creativity in both 2022 and 2023, Cornucopia in 2022, Art Junction at The Lalit Hotel in New Delhi in 2022, "Postcards from India to Slovenia" at the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in 2022, and the India Art Fair in 2020.
